The GASP artists are individual artists with a diverse range of artist distinctive styles and approaches. The GASP programme is a supported studio setting in Cork city centre and in Glasheen and Parkview day centres. Twelve of the artists are currently working in space shared by the art college, CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, in a multi-use building used by artists and arts organisations, in cork city centre. The programme focuses on the artist developing their professional practice and identity as artists and their involvement in cultural events. Many other artists are engaged in art making in the day centres.
As well as developing their individual artwork they engaging with the public through a range of projects and events. Innovative education and engagement programmes accompany exhibitions. A public engagement project example is a series of creative pop-up cafes in which the artists share their creative approaches and inspire others in their creative journey in a sociable settings. Events are organized throughout the year and the group makes a significant contribute to the cultural life of the city through engagement with festival and city-wide events like Culture night.
The artists have gained a strong reputation for their work with extensive exhibition record.
